Abstract

In August 2023 Singaraja City recorded inflation as high as 0.27 percent with a Consumer Price Index (base year 2018=100) of 116.69. The August 2023 calendar year inflation rate was as high as 2.57 percent. Meanwhile, the year-on-year inflation rate (August 2023 against August 2022 or YoY) was recorded as high as 3.44 percent.

Six expenditure groups recorded inflation (m to m), namely group I (food, beverages and tobacco) as high as 0.56 percent; group XI (personal care and other services) as high as 0.40 percent; group IV (equipment, equipment and household routine maintenance) as high as 0.29 percent; group VIII (recreation, sports and culture) as high as 0.27 percent; group V (health) as high as 0.25 percent; and group VI (transportation) as high as 0.02 percent. Meanwhile, there were no groups that experienced deflation, and the other groups were stagnant, namely group II (clothing and footwear); group III (housing, water, electricity, and household fuel); group VII (information, communication and financial services); group IX (education); and group X (providing food and beverages/restaurants).

Of the 90 cities observed for national inflation, 44 cities experienced inflation and 46 cities experienced deflation. The highest inflation was recorded in Manokwari City (West Papua) at 0.55 percent, while the lowest inflation was recorded in Mataram City (West Nusa Tenggara), Purwokerto City (Central Java) and DKI Jakarta, namely 0.01 percent. Meanwhile, the deepest deflation was recorded in Waingapu City (East Nusa Tenggara) at 1.20 percent, while the shallowest deflation was recorded in Sukabumi City (West Java) and Bandung City (West Java) at 0.02 percent each. If sorted from the highest inflation, then Singaraja ranks 9th out of 44 cities experiencing inflation.
