Abstract

In March 2022, Singaraja City experienced inflation as high as 1.27 percent with a Consumer Price Index (base year 2018=100) of 109.89. The March 2022 calendar year inflation rate is as high as 1.06 percent. Meanwhile, the year-on-year inflation rate (March 2022 against March 2021 or YoY) was recorded as high as 1.46 percent

Five expenditure groups recorded inflation (m to m), namely group I (food, beverages, and tobacco) as high as 3.64 percent; group XI (personal care and other services) as high as 1.50 percent; group VIII (recreation, sports, and culture) as high as 0.65 percent; group VI (transportation) as high as 0.17 percent; and group III (housing, water, electricity, and household fuel) as high as 0.16 percent. Meanwhile, another expenditure group experienced deflation, namely group IV (equipment, equipment, and routine household maintenance) of 1.74 percent. The other five expenditure groups recorded no change in the index or were stagnant, namely; group II (clothing and footwear); group V (health); group VII (information, communication, and financial services); group IX (education); and group X (providing food and drinks/restaurants).

Commodities that contributed to inflation in March 2022 include cayenne pepper, red chili, preserved cob, broiled chicken eggs, shallots, white cigarettes, pork, gold jewelry, and cakes.
Of the 90 CPI cities, 88 cities experienced inflation and 2 cities experienced deflation. If sorted from the highest inflation rate, then Singaraja ranks 6th out of 88 cities experiencing inflation.
