Abstract

In February 2021, Singaraja City was recorded to experience inflation as high as 0.22 percent with the Consumer Price Index (base year 2018 = 100) of 107.44. The inflation rate for the calendar year February 2021 is as high as 1.17 percent. Meanwhile, the year-on-year inflation rate (February 2021 against February 2020 or YoY) was recorded as high as 2.27 percent.

Five expenditure groups recorded inflation (m to m), namely group I (food, beverages, and tobacco) as high as 0.48 percent; group VII (information, communication and financial services) as high as 0.38 percent; group VI (transportation) as high as 0.27 percent; group II (clothing and footwear) as high as 0.18 percent; and group V (health) as high as 0.13 percent. Meanwhile, two other expenditure groups recorded deflation, namely group XI (personal care and other services) at 0.07 percent; and group IV (equipment, tools, and routine household maintenance) at 0.02 percent. The other four expenditure groups recorded that the index did not change or were stagnant, namely, group III (housing, water, electricity, and household fuel), group VIII (recreation, sports, and culture), group IX (education), and group X ( provision of food and beverages / restaurants).

Commodities recorded as contributing to inflation in February 2021 include cayenne pepper, red chilies, cobs, filter clove cigarettes, eggplant, water spinach, cooking oil, intercity transportation rates, cell phones, young jackfruit, and wet shrimp.

Of the 90 CPI cities, 56 cities experienced inflation and 34 cities experienced deflation. The highest inflation was recorded in Mamuju (West Sulawesi) as high as 1.12 percent while the lowest inflation was recorded in Sumenep (East Java) and in Tasikmalaya (West Java) as high as 0.02 percent respectively. Meanwhile, the deepest deflation was recorded in Gunungsitoli (North Sumatra) at 1.55 percent, while the shallowest deflation was recorded in Tarakan (North Kalimantan) and Malang (East Java) as deep as 0.01 percent respectively. If sorted from highest inflation, Singaraja ranks 28th out of 56 cities experiencing inflation.
