Abstract

In November 2020, Singaraja City experienced inflation as high as 0.37 percent with the Consumer Price Index (base year 2018 = 100) of 105.07. The inflation rate for the November 2020 calendar year was recorded as high as 1.39 percent. Meanwhile, the year-on-year inflation rate (November 2020 against November 2019 or YoY) was recorded as high as 1.50 percent.

Five expenditure groups were recorded to experience inflation (m to m), namely group I (food, beverages and tobacco) as high as 1.60 percent; group VII (information, communication and financial services) as high as 0.39 percent; group II (clothing and footwear) as high as 0.19 percent; group XI (personal care and other services) as high as 0.05 percent; and group VIII (recreation, sports, and culture) as high as 0.04 percent. Meanwhile, three groups of expenditures recorded deflation, namely, group IV (equipment, tools and routine household maintenance) at -2.77 percent; group VI (transportation) as deep as -0.15 percent; and group III (housing, water, electricity, and household fuel) at -0.01 percent. Three other expenditure groups recorded that the index did not change or were stagnant, namely, group V (health), group IX (education) and group X (provision of food and beverages / restaurants).

Commodities recorded as contributing to inflation in November 2020 included cayenne pepper, broiler chicken, shallots, red chilies, cooking oil, kale, and cabbage / cabbage.

Of the 90 CPI cities, 83 cities experienced inflation and 7 cities experienced deflation. The highest inflation was recorded in Tual at 1.15 percent, while the lowest was recorded in Bima at 0.01 percent. Meanwhile, the deepest deflation was recorded in Kendari as deep as -0.22 percent, while the lowest deflation was recorded in two cities, namely Meulaboh and Palopo with each city as deep as -0.01 percent. If sorted from highest inflation, Singaraja ranks 36 out of 90 cities experiencing inflation.
